The Cost of Christmas

Before I get too much into this post, let me just say that I love giving presents...I love watching someone open up a gift from me & seeing them smile & say "This is great!" or "I love this!". I really do get a lot of joy out of that....and honestly, I don't even care if I get a gift in return.

However, as our family grows, so too, does the cost of Christmas. While my sister & I were driving back from Texas this weekend, I made a "rough draft" list of who I needed to buy for. I think this year, the list is up to 24 or 25. I usually budget certain amounts for each person. This year, the total budget is about $600 dollars...that's not including the amount of money Matt & I will spend on each other. I usually don't hold back when it comes to Matt...I have been known to spend $200 or more on him alone. He's so good to me throughout the year, that it's the least I can do (yeah, yeah, most of you are sticking your finger down your throat, imitating puking noises).

But, come on, spending $600 + for Christmas is CRAZY! Then when you add in stocking stuffers, wrapping paper, bows & gift tags...it could get close to $800!

Even though that's a lot of money, it's worth it, when I get to see my 4 year old nephew's face when he opens the "Cars" DVD!

So does this mean you want to reduce the price of Christmas? There's always Dollar Tree and Dollar General. Those are fun stores! We could have a competition to see who can spend the least on a gift.......

Anyway, don't get me started on my annual Christmas-is-too-expensive rant. I've been doing it since Suzanne was born and it doesn't change anything. I just hunt for deals and save money up every month so it doesn't hit so hard all at once.

And just for comparison, I've already spent $600 just on the girls' things. I've not bought a single other thing yet. Oh wait. Yea, I've bought one other thing for Zackery. The rest is going to come later this year.

Btw, I don't have a blog any more. The free blog I had decided to start charging b/c they weren't making enough money off the free ones. So I'm letting it go. But I'll gladly read yours!
