Matt & I just got back from dinner with some friends & we'll ring in 2007 from the comfort of our home! At 12:01am, I'll be IN BED, ASLEEP!
So, Internet, Happy New Year! And, GO HOGS...beat the Wisconsin Badgers tomorrow in the Capital One Bowl!
He's been wanting this new Black & Decker Handi Saw for about a month now. Of course, if you ask Matt, he's really been wanting it for "like FOREVER!". Then, just this past week, he put the new Black & Decker Electric Scissors (which, personally, I also was secretly wanting) on his list.
Well, thank goodness his Loving. Wonderful. Caring. Wife. told her mother to get him a gift card to Home Depot for Christmas!
Yesterday, while I was shopping, Matt went on a search for his "must have" tools. Both of which he found & purchased. He couldn't wait to use them! Today, he went to Best Buy to "look around" & came home with an earpiece for his cell phone. When he got home, he ran into the guest room/computer room to show me what he got & to tell me that this has been a good "toy buying" weekend for him. Then, he said this:
"I'm so excited, I think I might pee on myself!".
Then, he ran around the room, doing his "I got some really cool stuff this weekend" dance.
He got even more excited when he realized he could use his new Electric Scissors to cut open the plastic packaging that his earpiece came in.
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to document this celebratory occasion!

Matt & I each have our own closet in the master bathroom, the guest room has a closet, the Room That Will Someday Be A Nursery, but is currently my scrapbook room, has a closet...plus, we have a linen closet & a closet in the hallway that holds much more than just coats! Each closet is a walk-in closet with plenty of space & built in shelves.
When we moved in 2 & 1/2 years ago, I just knew we'd never have enough stuff to fill up all these closets (that is, until we started having children). BOY, WAS I WRONG!
I stuffed stuff everywhere! Matt's baseball cards, boxes (yes, BOXES!) of stationary my mom ordered for me to use for thank you notes for wedding gifts, framed pictures that I didn't want to hang up yet because I wasn't sure where I wanted to hang them, wrapping paper, Christmas decorations...you name it, I stuffed it.
However, things didn't stay that way for long. Because I love to organize things, I quickly went through the closets & got rid of stuff as well as set stuff aside for future garage sales. Even though I downsized quite a bit, I still had stuff spread out taking up room in each closet.
Well, in June, Matt & I found out we were pregnant. So, I knew we'd have to clean out the closet in The Room That Will Someday Be A Nursery to make room for baby things. Sadly, I miscarried at 12 weeks. Plans to clean out that closet got put on hold because I couldn't even bring myself to open the door (We already had a few baby outfits hanging up in there...but, without my knowing, Matt took the outfits out & carefully stored them away somewhere).
Anyway, all of our Christmas decorations are in that closet, so I decided that when it was time to put away the decorations, we'd go ahead & clean the closet out & try to fit everything that needed to be stored in the closet in the guest room. FOLKS, TODAY WAS THE DAY!!
I bought some rectangular tupperware storage containers at Target for Matt's baseball cards...which are now tucked safely away under the bed in the guest room & his other sports memorabilia is now on the top shelf of HIS closet. I put the BOXES of stationary in my closet, along with a box of my baby things & a few mementos from our wedding.
I was able to downsize my Christmas storage totes from 4 to 3...which now rest comfortably in the guest room closet, along with my entire Christmas village & a few other decorations.
What's inside the closet of the Room That Will Someday Be A Nursery, you ask?
Only the box that my wedding dress is preserved in & 1 tupperware tote full of yard sale stuff! I am a happy girl! And, much more organized.
Wow! Who knew I could write this much about downsizing from 2 closets to 1?

Many people, including me, make a list of their New Year's Resolutions. And, many people, including me, stick with it for like a week & then Forget The List Ever Existed.
This year, I decided NOT to make a resolution list. Instead, I'm just going to write down what I HOPE will happen in 2007 & because it's Thursday, I came up with 13 (in random order).
- I HOPE to get pregnant again this year & finally have a (healthy & happy) baby
- I HOPE to pay down our credit cards
- I HOPE that Matt & I can build our deck in the backyard
- I HOPE to get back in the gym on a regular basis, instead every now & then
- I HOPE Matt & I will both get raises at work
- I HOPE to write at least half of my Not Yet Started Novel
- I HOPE to find an agent & a publisher for my Not Yet Started Novel
- I HOPE that Matt & I can become more disciplined in the way we spend money
- I HOPE that Matt & I can save more money
- I HOPE that Matt & I will find the perfect getaway for our 5 year anniversary
- I HOPE that Perfect Getaway will be on the beach somewhere
- I HOPE to continue to develop my relationship with God
- I HOPE that we all continue to be happy, healthy & most of all, loved

Does it seem strange that when I asked Matt to take the trash out, he picked me up & tried to take me outside?
I'm pretty sure he was just kidding.
I mean he was smiling & he didn't actually take me all the way outside...

Also joining us was Matt's sister, her husband & our 2 nieces...plus, Matt's aunt, uncle & 3 cousins. The tree was stocked with presents...maybe too many!
Here are just a few pictures of all of opening our gifts.

You see, this is the VERY FIRST CHRISTMAS that my sister & I won't get to see other on Christmas Day! Her husband's family lives in Oklahoma & they drove up there yesterday.
I guess when you think about it, though, it makes sense. In years past, my sister & her husband would either leave OK on Christmas Day & drive to my mom's house for dinner & gifts that night. Or, we'd all meet at my mom's Christmas morning & then my sister would drive to OK that night. Every year, they were driving 6 hours on Christmas Day. So, finally, I think my sister had enough & decided they wouldn't travel on Christmas anymore. And, with Jackson getting older, my sister decided it was mean to let him open all his gifts & then say, "Okay, it's time to put it all away & drive in the car for 6 hours!".
Even though I miss her, I can look forward to next year, when she'll be HERE for Christmas!

The cutest Santa Claus ever!My family & I had an awesome time at my mom & stepdad's house last night.
"Santa" even came by to drop off a few gifts for Jackson & Riley. My mom told Jack that "Santa" wanted him to have a toy at my mom's house, so "Santa" mailed it to her from the North Pole.
Jack got a Batman computer & Riley got a talking high chair for her baby dolls. Of course, Riley wanted to play with Jackson's toy.
(Before I go on, I just want to point out that Riley is wearing my Christmas dress that I wore when I was her age! Isn't it cute?)
As a tradition, we open our stockings first & then we open gifts.
Matt opening something
Riley reading her new books
Me with my Christmas card holder my sister made
My sister & brother in law opening charcoal drawings of the kids
Next up on the list: Church & dinner at my dad's cousin's house. Then, on Christmas morning, Matt & I will open our gifts to each other & head over to his mom's house.

When he finally let her in, she went to the hallway & made the "I'm getting ready to puke all over this nice carpet" look, so he put her back outside. I went with her to make sure she was ok & what did she do? She ate more grass. I tried to stop her, but she went out in the middle of the yard & I didn't have shoes on. So, I came back inside & a few seconds later so did she.
After she came in, she sat at Matt's feet for about 3 minutes dry-heaving. I just knew she going to throw up everywhere, without warning.
Now, she's sitting in Matt's lap. So far, she hasn't thrown up in the house. But, I'm waiting for it. I know it's coming. And, it's going to be awful when it does come up because it's been sitting in her stomach now for about 20 minutes! That totally sucks.
But, what sucks more is that the last time she barfed on the carpet, we used up the last of our handy-dandy carpet cleaner we got from Stanley Steamer. Gak!

These are my nieces, Madeline & Suzanne. Matt's sister, Wendy, is their mom. They moved to Fayetteville this summer. While that sucked, it really makes me enjoy the time we spend together now when they come to visit. They're the cutest girls!
Matt turned the big 3-0 in October. He wasn't too happy about it, so I threw him a surprise party. He's not as sad about it as I think he thought he would be.
Riley learned how to say my name (well, my nickname that Matt & my family uses: "Rah-Rah"). One day during the summer, we were at the pool & I was in the shallow end..Riley & my sister were in the deep end. Riley turned around & looked at me & said "Hi, Rah Rah"!
My Best In Show ribbon that I won at the State Fair.
This picture was taken at a family reunion in February. Matt's grandmother & her husband flew in from Tennessee. It was really nice to get spend time with them.

For those of you who don't know, Matt & I were in a horrible roll-over accident 3 years ago (not our fault) & both my legs were crushed. I couldn't walk for 8 weeks & then went through months of physical therapy. I've had about 5 surgeries on my legs since the wreck & will need a total knee replacement on my left leg in a few years.
Because of the injury in my right ankle, I can't flex my foot, limiting what shoes I can wear. Anything with a heel just doesn't work. Flat shoes (like ballet slippers) are the only shoes that work for me. I've been wearing the shoes I got after the wreck for 2 & 1/2 years now & they just stopped being comfortable. So, yesterday, Matt & I finally went shoe shopping.
I got a few pairs, but these shoes are my favorite! They're from Jessica Simpson & they are VERY, VERY comfortable. Jessica sure knows how to make shoes!

After leaving my dad's house last night, we went over to Sydney & Tom's house for a going away party for Keli, a member of our sports team.
We palyed Pop Culture DVD & split into teams...boys against girls & played 2 rounds. The guys won the 1st game & the girls won the 2nd game.
Below is a picture of Matt & Casey (one of our photographers) dancing because they won a pie!
Before we all told Keli goodbye, we all posed (just look at the guys, including my husband, in the back row) for a group shot.
Maybe the most exciting point in the night was when Riley opened up a Dora Princess doll & 2 Dora books. This girl LOVES Dora!
Here are some pictures I wanted to share with you!

But, I LOVE IT!! Not just because I get presents, but because I love seeing my family & Matt's family, especially now that my niece's & nephew really understand what the holiday is all about & I love to watch their faces when they open their gifts. Plus, I get to eat some really good food!
Anyway, tonight the celebration kicks off with my dad & step-mom. We're going over to their house for dinner & a big gift exchange. On Friday night, we'll go to my mom & step-dads house for much of the same. Next Sunday night, we'll go to the Christmas Eve service at my old church & then head over to my dad's cousin's house for dinner. Christmas morning, Matt & I will open our gifts to each other & then around 11:30am, we'll go to his mom's house to do Christmas with his mom, sister (& her family), and Matt's aunt & uncle & cousins.
It'll be a CRAZY 9 days, but it's also a lot of fun! When we get home tonight from my dad's house, I'll post pictures of the celebration, so be sure to check back!

Next on my agenda: WRAPPING PRESENTS!!
(P.S. When I got home, I found 4 presents under the tree for me!)
Am I crazy to go to not one, BUT TWO, malls the week before Christmas? Probably.
Matt & I are both off work today & we're both going shopping (separately) to finish buying gifts. Wait...who am I kidding? Matt's actually just STARTING his list today because the only person he has to buy gifts for is ME! I buy every single gift for everyone in both our families. I make the list, I do the budget, I make sure everything's equal & I wrap the gifts!
But, really I don't think I'd want it any other way because I actually love to buy presents, wrap them & put them under the tree! And, Matt's really creative when it comes to my gifts. Every year, I think I know exactly what he's gotten me, but then I open them up & I'm totally wrong.
Speaking of wrapping gifts, it usually takes Matt about 30 minutes to wrap one present. The other night, I wrapped a gift for his mom in like 2 minutes flat. He was like, "Did you wrap that present already?". I nodded my head & he said, "Slow down, you're gonna get a tummyache!".
Anyway, today, I have my "To Do List" ready to go, complete with my coupons from various shops! I am ready to brave the crowds & cross every item off my list! Then, I get to come home & wrap it all! I think Matt even has some kind of "To Do List"!
We'll see how it goes...

Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?
Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God: Please help me to remember to be a good dog! Here's a list
- I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
- The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
- The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
- Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".
- I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
- I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house- not after.
- I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.
- I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
- The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes thatnoise, it's usually not a good thing.
- Holiday music ("O Holy Night" rocks!)
- Holiday commercials
- Picking out our tree
- Decorating!! (the tree & our house)
- Shopping for gifts
- Buying gifts
- Wrapping gifts
- Watching friends & family open gifts
- Opening presents with Matt on Christmas morning
- Being with our families
- the Christmas Eve service at the church I grew up in
- Getting Christmas cards in the mail
- the wonderful feeling I get when I wake up on Christmas morning
The thing that makes me sad about Christmas is that it's all over too soon! I literally get tears in my eyes when it comes time to take down the tree & the decorations!

I've had many of them addressed & ready to go for almost 2 weeks now, but I was too OCD to mail them until I had all the addresses I needed!!
So, be looking for our card in the mail...although Matt says don't pay any attention to him. He wasn't too excited about having to be in the picture!

When my sister plays the CDs in the car, Jackson just sings his little heart out. He knows the words to almost every song! When Riley hears the start of "What Hurts The Most", she smiles really big!
So, I'm sitting at my desk when my sister calls & tells me that my niece is too funny! Apparently, while taking Jackson to school, they were listening to Rascal Flatts. When she dropped Jackson off, she turned the CD off & the radio on. She said Riley started crying & pointed to the radio. So, my sister turned the CD back on to finish out the song & Riley stopped crying. Once the song was over, though, my sister turned it off & the radio back on.
WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED NEXT?
Riley started crying again & pointed to the radio. My sister turned Rascal Flatts back on & Riley was happy again.
That's my girl! (How can you say no to this face, anyway!).
P.S. Jackson & Riley are also huge fans of Kenny Chesney & his song, "You Save Me".

Okay, I get it...it's wet & it sucks really bad.
But, seriously...if dogs would just understand that if they ran out real fast, did their business, and ran back in, they really wouldn't be that wet!
Take tonight for example. I get home, it's raining & I let Maisy outside to pee. She just sits on the back porch, looking at me as if to ask, "You don't expect me to go out THERE do you? It's WET, Mom!" So, I go out & stand in the middle of the yard, in the pouring down rain & try to coax off the porch. NOPE! So, then I go get her & carry her out to the middle of the yard. She sniffs for a minute or two, then pees.
FINALLY, WE HAVE SUCCESS!
But, then, she comes inside & acts like she's just soaking wet. She rolls around on the carpet, shakes, rubs her back on the couch & then repeats the process over & over again. Meanwhile, I'm the one who looks like I just got out the shower!
Well, about 15 minutes later, it stops raining, so I let her outside for "Number 2". She gets it done, but then won't COME BACK INSIDE! A few minutes ago, I couldn't get her to go out, now she won't back in?
C'mon...GIVE A GIRL A BREAK!

On HBO tonight, Arkansan & World Middleweight Champion, Jermain Taylor, defended his title against Kassim Ouma. Jermain won!
Once you get to see a fight up close, though, it's never the same again. Last year, Matt & I flew to Las Vegas to see Jermain Taylor defend his title against Bernard Hopkins.
I sat 3rd row from the boxing ring & it was one of the most coolest things I have ever watched!
