Maisy went to the doctor today.
I was supposed to take her yesterday, but she ate a bunch of grass when I took her outside & I was scared she was going to puke all over me in the car, so I left her at home & took her today.
The good news: She has a MINOR ear infection in both ears. But, the doctor assures me, it's really not that bad. We just have to give her some drops 2 x a day, until the medicine runs out.
The bad news: SHE'S SEVEN POUNDS OVERWEIGHT!!!!!
What?
She weighs 35 pounds. Her ideal weight is 28 pounds. Maybe 29, but that's pushing it.
She's been on Weight Management dog food for about 8 months now & we take her on walks all the time. We throw her rope toys for her in the backyard, which also gives her exercise.
She doesn't act like the extra weight bothers her. But, her doctor says it can cause back problems.
So, how do I get a 35 pound Beagle to lose weight?
I have no freaking idea.
Do you guys have any suggestions? (ahem. KimmyK. a.k.a Mom of 2 Beagles. Please? Help?)
Maisy & me thank you.

No real advice. All we did was cut down on their portions - just like I'm doing with myself!
Good luck!
dan weighs 40 pounds.
maggie weighs 32.
dan's a fatass. but it doesn't slow him down. i started cutting back on how much i feed him. i give him a half scoop in the am and a half scoop at night and i cut out treats at night too.
maisy doesn't look *overweight* to me. maybe she's just big boned.
Thanks for saying my dog's not fat! :) I don't think she looks overweight either. And, like I said it doesn't stop her from doing anything. I agree, I think she's just big boned because when I look at her, I can still see her ribs!
In those pics you sent me, Dan doesn't look like a fatass to me. He looks bigger than Maisy, but I think that's cuz' he a boy!! :)
No really Dan's a fatass. But I like my guys a little "thick". LOL.
My parents have a snaucher - sp? and they keep telling then that he is over weight ... I think he is big boned ... My mom agreed to do all she could to keep him at current weight ... she tried for 2 years to reduce his weight .. it never bugged .... maybe your's is bigged boned too!
