I Was In, Out & Back at Work in Under 60 Minutes.

Women.

You're SO not going to believe this.

Today was my long-awaited appointment for my "yearly" exam with my Gynecologist.

As women, we all know HOW LONG these appointments can last. First, you have to wait FOREVER in the waiting room to be called back.

Then, you FINALLY get called back & you're instructed to give a urine sample & the nurse checks your weight & your blood pressure.

Next, she takes you to a room, where she tells you to take off all your clothes & put on the ever-so-lovely hospital gown that buttons down the front.

After that, you wait & you wait & you WAIT.

For the doctor.

Finally, he or she comes in, tries to make small-talk, even you both know full well that he or she's looking you in the eye one minute & then looking at your "area" the next.

The actual exam feels like it takes FOREVER. Even though it probably only takes 2 or 3 minutes.

Then, you're done.

The nurse tells you to get dressed & the doctor will come back in to talk to you.

The whole process can sometimes take 2 hours....or more.

WELL, TODAY, I WAS IN, OUT AND BACK AT WORK IN UNDER 60 MINUTES.

Ya'll, I swear, my appointment's have never been so speedy.

I arrived at 10:30am, with a book in one hand & my checkbook with some bills to pay in the other.

People, I was prepared to wait.

I signed in, sat down, opened my checkbook & paid a few bills. That process took me about 10 minutes.

I had just opened my book to start reading, when I hear "Robin?".

I looked up & the nurse was standing in the doorway, beckoning me to follow her.

For a second, I thought "Well, there must be another Robin."

But, no, she was talking to me. So, I get up & follow her to the bathroom.

I pee, as instructed, in my little cup. Then, I walk out to get weighed & get my blood pressure taken. Everything's good.

She takes me to my room & tells me to get undressed & put the little gown on & then she leaves.

PEOPLE, ONE MINUTE LATER, THE FREAKING DOCTOR OPENS THE DOOR TO THE ROOM!!! I WAS NOT EVEN UNDRESSED YET!!!

Thankfully, I hadn't taken anything off yet. Well, except my shoes.

I look at him & he looks at me & he realizes that I just like got into the room.

So, he says, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll be back." And, before I can say "No, no, just stand right outside. I'll be ready in like 1 minute", he shut the door.

I was like, crap, now it's going to take FOREVER for him to come back.

I get my gown on & sit on the exam table with my book.

I barely get one paragraph read & here he comes again with his nurse.

I'm stunned.

So, you know what happens next.

10 minutes later, I'm dressed again & sitting in his office, talking to him about how to get the results of my Pap Smear.

5 minutes after that, I was back in my car, driving back to work.

PEOPLE, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

I was beside myself.

I mean, I'm not complaining, but I just couldn't believe how fast it all went.

And, it actually allowed me time to go get a real lunch, instead of my usual Pop-Tart!

Sweet.

Hey! I had my pap done today too!!
Must be THAT day.

I was in and out in 30 minutes. New facility [satellite office]. That was the best experience I've had with another woman in a long time!!

Hope everything turns out ok. This is my first year where she's said "women in their 40's need to get mammograms yearly" and then I felt sick. I'm 40 now. I need a mammogram. Argh.

Envy!!!

My doctor appointments take at least 2 hours every time! And right now I'm going once a week! Ugh!!!
I have to pack a lunch for each appointment, lol.

I hope mine goes as quickly next month! As soon as I'm through, I thank God that I don't have to come back for a whole year. I'm dreading it - just a little!
