Narrowed Down.

Ok, people.

It seems we have narrowed down our choices for flooring & paint to 2 (each).

And, WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO PAINT THE WALLS RED OR PINK.

Here are the two pictures of the floors.

This is called "Tobacco Road".

Not sure what this one is called. I tried to zoom into the picture to see what it says on the label, but I couldn't read it. So, we'll just call this one brown.

Here are the paint choices. The one on the left is called "Sea Grass" & the one on the right is "Apple". I really like the Sea Grass, but I included the Apple to get your opinion.

The one we like on this sample is at the top, "Aloe Essence".

We have a guy coming out on Friday to give us an estimate on how much it would cost to do hardwood in the entryway & kitchen. We're probably not going to do the kitchen right now, UNLESS he quotes us a really, really good deal. I don't see that happening though.

So, what do y'all think?

I vote for Tobacco Road (um, hello? That's a given, I went to UNC-Chapel Hill: home to the best known college basketball rivalry found ON Tobacco Road) and "Apple" for the walls. I like "Aloe Essence" too, depending on how bright/dark you want your walls.

Can't wait to see the final results!

I LOVE the Aloe Essence and I think to keep it from getting too dark I pick the tobacco road.

I love Tobacco Road (consideration: it looks great now, but will it look "dated" in 5-10 years? ). I really like either sea grass or apple for colour :)

I'm all for the Tobacco Road flooring and the 'Apple' paint color. :) But any of them would be beautiful!

Ok, Robin, don't hate me. But I don't like either paint color. Are you going to paint the entire house this color? They just don't look like a color you paint your living room. They would work great in a bathroom or a kitchen. Or even a bedroom. But I think a living room needs to be more neutral. It can be a cool neutral, since you don't like the yellow, but it still needs to be somewhere near the beige or brown family.

From my experience with paint, I have learned this. It will be WAY darker than the chip looks. And once you get it up, that entire color surrounds you. So you'd better like it. :) A tip I read is to buy a small can of paint in the color you like and paint a big splotch on the wall. View it at different times of day and in different light. (sunny, nighttime, cloudy, etc.) It'll save you a lot of heartache in the long run.

I like "brown" for the floor.

I like the brown floor...that's the color we're looking at. And, I like the Apple color...that looks almost identical to the color of our kitchen and the accent wall in our living room! And, it looks good :)

We have a similar color to the sea grass in our dining room with hardwood floors. I like the Aloe essence color scheme too. I noticed what Wendy said and that is true about the light changing how it looks, but I've been happy with our sage color in the dining room & kitchen. We have a chair rail so we did the top sage and the bottom and off white color. I can't remember their "given names" right now. Good luck!!!
