What Happened Over Thanksgiving Break.
The day after Thanksgiving, around 11:10pm at night, Matt & I were sitting on the couch playing Super Mario Bro's for Wii (which is super fun, by the way.)
Anyway, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the reflection of a red light flashing through the glass in our front door. I got up & went into our guest bedroom to look out the window.
AND, FLAMES ARE SHOOTING UP OVER THE TREES IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
I yelled at Matt: "A HOUSE IS ON FIRE!!!!"
He thought I was kidding, so he came in to look.
Then, he goes: "GET IN THE CAR!" (He drives a company car with a camera & even though we were on vacation, he knew that our TV station would want this video.)
At this point, we're still not even sure what house is burning...if it's in our neighborhood or if it's a house across the street from our neighborhood entrance.
Turned out, it was the house DIRECTLY across from the entrance.
When we pulled up, the firefighters (from 4 different departments) were just setting up the big hoses to try to get control of the flames.
IT WAS CRAZY.
Matt was shooting video & I stood around watching the fire with about 10 other people from our neighborhood.
No one was inside the house. (But, I found out later, that the home owner's dog died in the fire.)
The woman who lived in the house actually died that morning after spending 2 weeks in the hospital. Her son lives in a trailer behind the house, but he wasn't there when the fire started.
(And, no...as far as we know, the fire isn't suspicious.)
I took these pictures from Matt's phone, so the quality isn't very good, but you get the idea.
I have never seen a house fire before & I hope I never see another one.

The house.
Here's a shot of all the firefighters & trucks that were there to help out.
